Saturday, April 3. 2020 -- Our studio will continue to be closed through Saturday, May 2, 2020. It is with great optimism and hope that we return on May 4, but only time will tell. We miss you all so much, and we pray daily for the safekeeping of our students, families and friends.
Sunday, March 22. 2020 -- The most current school closures mandate for the State of Illinois is through April 7, 2020 (return on Wednesday, April 8). We will remained closed during this time, or later as deemed appropriate. We are aware that the Chicago School District is closed through April 21, and it is possible we could be closed that long as well. But at minimum, we will follow the State school closures mandate.
Saturday, March 14, 2020 -- It is with heavy hearts, and even fear and anxiety, that we must take action to help keep our students, families, and community safe during this COVID-19 pandemic. But we must all do our part in minimizing and stopping the spread of this potentially life-threatening viral infection. Therefore, we will follow the closure mandates for the State of Illinois public schools, and we will close our facility for the same duration.
Additional information will be posted regarding our make up classes and practice videos of recital choreography, as well as how we move forward in the session, so please visit this page often. We will also be using our Facebook page to make announcements, and to post fun activities for students, siblings, and parents to do.
We sincerely thank our families for being understanding and supporting our unprecedented decision to close the studio during the middle of a session. But we all have to work together to be safe, and to keep each other safe.
We will miss our students, but we look forward to reopening to continue our preparations for our 2020 recital, "Hello, Broadway!" on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

FUN DANCE ACTIVITIES TO DO AT HOME
These dance activities are fun things students and families can do, in addition to practicing dance choreography. In fact, they are being used by some families to meet their homeschooling gym requirements. They are good for our bodies, minds, and spirits to be moving and keeping our minds set on dance!
I Will Survive, Section 1 (long version) -- This 30-minute training video is linked through our Facebook page that breaks down all of the moves, count by count. We encourage children to grab their parents and learn it together. It's a possibility we will put it on stage during the recital if enough families want to perform. No worries -- no costumes are special practices!
I Will Survive, Section 2 -- Ms Jackie will review the first section and add on more as we continue to survive social distancing.
Short Yoga with Ms Jackie for children ages 4-8 -- kids, get out your Yoga mats, a towel, or blanket and get centered with Ms Jackie as she takes you through some interesting poses inspired by Disney characters!
Students in Ms April's Monday and Wednesday classes should do these exercises at least one weekly, but preferably daily so they'll be ready to work hard when we return to classes at the studio.
Students in Ms Shannon's Pre-Pointe classes should do these exercises at least once weekly, but preferably daily since you might have time on your hands!
This Princess Ballet Tea Party is geared for our littlest students -- Itty Bitty, Pre-Ballet 1 and up to age 8. Grab a real or pretend wand (or make one), your favorite stuffed animal, a plastic cup, plate, and spoon and get ready for a fancy tea party with Ms Shannon!
CHOREOGRAPHY TO PRACTICE
We ask that students practice the choreography they have learned thus far. They should warm up and run through it several times so when we return to the studio, we can keep going. We WILL be ready for recital. This year, it's just a little different. Parents can watch the video as their children practice. Please feel free to post practice sessions (video or pictures) on our Facebook page.
If there is not a link on your child's class, please check later. We are still updating our website with choreography. If you find a link not working, please email us.
The Itty Bitty Ballet classes do not perform in the recital, so they do not have choreography. Pre-Ballet 1 students are in the recital, but their teacher dances with them on stage. The steps and movements in these videos will be used in the recital, so it is important to practice these with your children.
Your children will have the opportunity to make up their classes once we return to the studio. Meanwhile, we thought parents might like to review some of the basic steps that are taught in both Itty Bitty Ballet and Pre-Ballet 1 classes. Parents can watch the video and practice with their children. Grab a small plush animal to balance on your heads, a scarf (or a small washcloth), or a wand (you can always make one together!). You can do the same moves with props.
We did a super cute Princess Ballet Tea Party for little ones! Be sure to do this with your children also. There is so much they are still learning with you at home, even if you can't do the steps perfectly. They are following instructions, imitating you (or doing them on their own).
We will be adding videos throughout the following days, so stay tuned!

MAKE UP TIMES FOR LOWER LEVEL CLASSES
Upon reopening and returning to oiur regular schedule, students in the lower level classes are encouraged to make up the two weeks of classes missed. The schedule below lists all of the classes, day/time, and instructor. These classes will be able to be made up anytime during the Spring Session.
In order to be more organized, it will be helpful, but not required, if you schedule the make up class. Either way, when you arrive at the studio for a make-up class, please check off your child's name at the front desk.

MAKE UP CLASSES FOR UPPER LEVEL CLASSES
As you may know, it's a little more complicated for upper level students to make up classes during our regular schedule because some of the students take every class offered at their level. Therefore, we will be scheduling some make up classes to be held Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. That schedule will be available as we receive more clarity on the pandemic situation and the recommendations by the CDC and Illionois public schools.
